Spring Bulb Planting

It was reported that half the bulbs have been planted, out of the seventeen bays there remain eight bays left to plant. To assist with the planting of the remaining bulbs JS-C said he would enquire if any help would be available from the young people who are serving reparation orders.  DB said he had spoken to Bill Roughton who was very keen to help with this project.

NET

A series of actions were carried out to issue a newsletter and organise ‘surgeries’. Of those residents attending these surgeries many had complained that they had not received the consultation leaflet.  Tim Spencer had spoken to the Chief Executive and in consequence Neil Bates will send out more leaflets. MC said he was puzzled by the lack of notification BCS said it was a cost cutting exercise meaning divisive consultation. All those who attended the surgeries were voicing their concerns on many aspects of the tram passing through Wilford and were very unhappy with the current proposals.  DB said we should keep the pressure on regarding the Bader Road embankment.

3.10

Any Other Business

BH (via DB) had received a reply from Chris Bailey confirming his previously stated view that the maggots that some residents had experienced were exceptional and that feedback from other councils indicated that no further action was necessary.  Commercial outlets would have to pay for extra bins.

Update from Open Community Group Meeting (27th November)

No residents had turned up for this meeting.

KC suggested, if the committee agreed, she would be available to chat to residents on the telephone if that were a more convenient way of people making contact with the group.  This was not generally felt to be suitable.

JS-C suggested having an open meeting at the Social Club. DB will contact the Social Club.

Chairman’s Report

5.1

Correspondence

DB has now received a signed licence for the Co-op notice board and this can now be put in place.  It was very encouraging to see people are looking at the notice board outside Kate and Brian’s property

DB had written to Alan Simpson re the David Wilson Development but had not received a reply.  Andrew Brooks a resident on Ruddington Lane, will keep us informed about any progress or developments.  It was unanimously agreed to reject the plans.

BC-S thought the plans had been rejected.

5.2

Village Shop

The plans for the Village Shop have been withdrawn.  The Architect employed by the applicant is reviewing the situation and will re-submit plans.

5.3

Graffiti

Malcolm Asbury has written to the Group thanking them for their efforts in getting involved with the removal of the graffiti on the ‘B’ bank, another success for the Committee.

6

Cycle Path to Bader Road

Steve Brewer, from the City Council, will be costing up the project linking Bader Road to Wilford Lane with a cycle path and will hopefully be putting it in place in next year’s budget. With regard to the encroachment of weeds etc on to the cycle path, he has no responsibility for this and will not be coming out of his budget.

GN Transport Partnership Forum

JS-C had attended this meeting which was to advertise The Big Wheel and of the plans to make the ring road more efficient with a guided bus which would be off road and cheaper.  JS-C asked why these were not considered for the Clifton-via-Wilford tram route but did not receive a reply.

One of the speakers at the meeting, Jim Mumford, gave a report on the transport plan and promised to send JS-C a copy of the plan, which so far JS-C has not received.  The trend in traffic movement Nottingham is rising over the national average.  Currently 33,000 vehicles per day use Clifton Bridge.  JS-C asked about noise prevention measures on Clifton Bridge, this is not their responsibility but the Highways Department.  There is a multi-modal study under way to look at the A52.

The tram is essential to Nottingham – this was highly stressed.

For further information look at www.thebigwheel.org.uk.

Any Other Business (urgent items only)

KC & BC voiced their concerns about health and safety with regard to speeding cyclists on the footpath adjacent to their home.  DB said he had spoken to John Lee at an earlier meeting about altering the barriers on the ‘B” bank to make them more effective to stop cycling at speed along this section, and will contact him again to see if any action is going to happen and when.
