Welcome and Introductions David Boulton, Chairman, opened the
meeting by welcoming invited guests, Councillor Andrew Price, Mick Newell and
Dominic Heale and residents to the first Annual General Meeting of the
Tenants and Residents Association. Before commencing with the formal
aspects of the meeting he spoke of two items that had been bought to his
attention by concerned residents. 1. It
has been reported that when sewage works commence at the Waterfront
Development, Wilford Village will have a one-way system operated by temporary
traffic lights and that the local bus service will not run on Saturdays. Upon making enquiries it was confirmed
that the buses will run as normal. 2. There
are ‘travellers’ living on the Gresham Playing Field, again, upon making
enquiries, it can be confirmed that the ‘travellers’ have been officially
requested to vacate the site by Friday the 25th July, if they do
not, then legal proceedings will take place. David Boulton opened the formal
procedures of the Annual General Meeting. |

The Annual Report, based on what the
Committee has been doing since it was formed in September 2002, was read to
the meeting (this can be seen in detail on the Web Site or a copy may be
obtained from David Boulton). At the
close of the Report it was put forward for acceptance by the Residents. ·

unanimously The Annual Report for 2002/3 was accepted. |

The Annual Accounts were
presented by the Treasurer, Sheila Atherton. (These can be seen in detail on
the Web Site or a copy may be obtained via David Boulton). Cheque signatories
are S. Atherton, D. Boulton, R. Steel and M. Cathcart (Secretary at that
particular time). The Annual Accounts
were then put forward for adoption ·

unanimously The Annual Accounts were adopted. |

Two Amendments to the Community Group Constitution were
put to the members for acceptance as follows:- 4.1 Insert New Clause 5.14 to
read: “At its discretion, the Committee may call closed
committee meetings to progress the business of the Group between open
Committee Meetings.” ·

Clause 9.3 to read: “The Treasurer and all cheque signatories must be a
minimum of sixteen years of age to comply with banking requirements.” ·

At this point the Committee stood down and Councillor
Andrew Price became the Independent Chair to oversee the Election of the new
Committee. |

Election of
Committee Members Committee Member nominations were: Mike Cathcart, Kate Clark, Brian Clark,
Josie Foster, Brian Hardy and Jonathan Shewell-Cooper. On a show of hands – carried unanimously Andrew Price concluded his role in the proceedings by
stating how professional the Committee had become in such a short period of
time and wished the new committee every success in the coming year. |

The Election
was followed by a brief interval for refreshments and to give the Residents
an opportunity to meet the new committee. |

Talk by Mick
Newell, Director of Cricket at the Nottinghamshire Cricket Club. Mick, a Wilford
resident, spoke about his cricket career which spanned 20 years at Trent
Bridge. He began playing at junior
level and in 1984 was offered his first contract at Trent Bridge. In 1991 Mick became the Second Team Coach,
and in 2002 he was promoted to First Team Coach, during which period the Team
were promoted in the 4 day league.
Mick is currently involved with introducing young children to cricket
with a new concept of 3 hour cricket
matches. |

Raffle Our thanks to the
following who donated prizes for the raffle: Jess and John
Griffiths of the Ferry Inn, ‘Way Ahead’ at Compton Acres, The Co-op, Books
About You, Wilford Newsagents, Dibleys, Wheatcrofts, Asda, Kate and Brian
Clark and Alan and Josie Foster. Dominic Heale was
invited to draw the raffle and the winners were: Josie Foster, Beryl
Marshall, Doreen Marshall, George Parnell, Janet Raymond, Hilary Saunders,
James Phossard, David and Cheryl Adams, Mick Newell, Clive Bennett, David
Rowe, Pat Lister, Lol Ryan and Roger Steel. |

Close and Thanks David Boulton
thanked Mr Eric Perry for letting the Association have the use of the school
and also, Mike Newell and Dominic Heale. The meeting closed
at 9.30 pm |
