Resident’s RepresentationJane Griffith informed the committee that access to the railway embankment between Coronation Avenue and Wilford Lane and between Wilford Lane an the southern end of Ruddington Lane had become very difficult and that even if the embankments could be accessed, any walkway had become overgrown to prevent passage. She said that she would be able to get a group together from her workplace as a team-building exercise but wanted advice from the committee whether this would be welcomed and would not be removed should plan for the tram be approved. Committee advised her that any work carried out on the embankment between Wilford Lane and the southern end of Ruddington Lane would be lost as NET plans were to remove the embankment completely. It was agreed that the Group would write to both NET and the City Council to ask if they would have any objection to each end of the Wilford “Village” embankment being made more accessible. This would be in the form of steps to prevent motorcycles having access to the path. |

Secretary’s ReportDB reported that he had received an email from the manager of the Ferry Inn concerned that some anti-social behaviour (broken bottles, drinking in the car park) from patrons of the Rugby Club would reflect badly in the Ferry Inn. DB reported that he had replied stating that any breaches of the Club’s licence should be reported to both the Police and the City Council. DB also requested that committee members pass this information on to any residents who might think that these problems were being caused by customers of the Ferry Inn. |

2007 Summer EventCA reported that the Rugby Club had confirmed the availability of the grounds for the event. It was agreed that the date fir the event would be agreed at the June meeting. It was agreed that it might be beneficial to coincide the event with another taking place during the summer, such as the National Gardens Scheme or the School Founder’s day Service at the church. SA agreed to find out who organised the Gotham event. CA requested that all committee members emailed him suggestions for events, stalls, etc that could be included in the day and how schools might be involved. |

NCT Service 3DB reported the results of the survey. Committee agreed that there were two options based on the survey results which showed 85% of respondents did not want the service to run at all along Vernon Avenue and Coronation Avenue but two elderly resident had stated that they would not be able to use the service if they were obliged to walk to a stop on Main Road – the committee voted on two options of stopping the service altogether or just stopping the service on a Saturday. The vote was tied 4-4 and BR used his casting vote on favour of asking NCT to consider stopping the service on Saturdays. It was agreed, therefore, that DB would write to Nottingham City Transport suggesting the service does not run along Coronation and Vernon Avenue at the weekend. He would also communicate this to the residents. |

Any Other BusinessCA reported that he had contacted The Topper to find out how much they would charge to deliver the Group’s newsletters, given the problems encountered lately and the recent and future increases in the number of addresses. The charge would be £25 to deliver to 1,000 homes. Although committee members were concerned that newsletters might be disposed of by residents along with other leaflets, it was agreed that this option would be borne in mind for future deliveries. FW suggested that the Group should offer to write a regular article for the West Bridgford Neighbourhood News. It was agreed that DB contact them to make the suggestion. SA asked if the Group could contact the City Council to chase the repairs that had been marked. It was agreed that DB contact the Council to chase. Andrew Nembhard (Neighbourhood Warden Team Leader) reported to the committee a number of issues: Parking in the South Wilford School Bus BaysAN stated that he would need registration numbers, dates and times to pursue this with inconsiderate drivers. BR agreed to provide this information. GraffitiAN reiterated that the first point of contact for all graffiti should be the Neighbourhood Service Team. Mini-motorbikesBC reported that this was becoming a problem again on Main Road and also along the closed footpath alongside the Nottingham Emmanuel School. AN stated that the police were in the process of gathering evidence for potential prosecutions and crushing of the bike(s) in question. Change in Wardens’ PowersAn informed the committee that wardens can now give Notices of Disorder and also impose fines on offenders. Neighbourhood ProfileAN reported that PC Nigel brown was compiling a Neighbourhood Profile for Wilford and Silverdale and requested contact details for the committee and other residents. DB agreed to pass this on. |
