Rushcliffe Council Planning Application – lorries along Coronation Avenue, Possible Public Meeting

BH had spoken to Gleeds, who are in charge of the contract.  They are willing to attend a meeting with Wilford residents.  They told BH that it had become necessary to bring lorries through the village because the new road is not ready.  It has been delayed because they have decided to put services under it so the height of the road has to be raised.

BH and ST are to attend the planning meeting at Rushcliffe Civic Centre on Thursday 13th July.  They will not be able to speak but will hear any debate prior to the vote.  There is some confusion as to whether lorries will be coming through the village until 4th September or until October.  It is hoped this will be clarified.  The WCG believes Rushcliffe has dealt with this application in a somewhat cavalier fashion without appropriate consultation with residents.  It was pointed out that Gleeds need to know about arrival and leaving times for children during the one-week holiday play scheme and the committee would like to try and ensure that any damage is repaired etc.  There was general agreement that the school building scheme is a good one but the interests of Wilford residents should be protected as far as possible.

It was agreed to call a public meeting once BH and ST know for sure that the planning permission has been granted.  It will be held on Wednesday 19th July in the Church Hall at 8.00 p.m.  DB will prepare leaflets to be distributed to all residents north of Wilford Lane.   Volunteers will be needed.

BH will be attending the Local Area Committee meeting on Wednesday 12th where he will try to raise the issues under any other business.

These minutes will be sent to PC Nigel Brown so he is aware of our plans.

2006 Summer Draw

SA reported that 385 tickets had been sold. Expenses totalled £50.50. Therefore a donation of £334.50 would be made to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

It was agreed that DB should send a letter to the air ambulance office with a covering letter.  Kate told the group that the organisation was delighted with the donation.  She will give DB the name of the person to write to.  SA will provide a cheque.

2007 Summer Event

It was agreed that the date should be 1st July 2007 providing this does not clash with schools’ activities.  CA agreed to write to schools, scouts, guides, play group, air training corps and any other group that might agreed to be involved in the event.  He will also attend a meeting of the History Society.  It is their 25th anniversary next year.  It is also the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery.  CA might find an interesting and appropriate focus for the event.  He will also speak to Josie.

It was agreed that no raffle will be organised for the event but there could be a tombola to help cover costs.  Various ideas were suggested for the event including the possibility of opening gardens.  CA will enquire whether previous openers will do so again.  87, 89 and 75 Main Road to be approached.  If they agree, KC and BC will open their garden and the railway.

BH has banners used for the Open Gardens day last year, which could be re-worded.  He will also ask the Area Committee if they are willing to help with some funding.
