A453 widening |

FW expressed his concern that the widening proposal does not extend
to the roundabout at Clifton Bridge and he feared this would only cause even
worse delays than already occur at busy times. More delays could be caused if/when traffic is also stopping at
lights on Wilford Lane to allow trams to cross every 6 minutes. FW had been to a ‘consultation’ meeting
about the proposals and had seen a public consultation leaflet describing the
plans. This leaflet was only
distributed to residents of Clifton and Silverdale and FW would like to know
why Wilford was excluded from the circulation. At the meeting no questions were allowed, and anyone wanting
particular information was directed to a form to be filled in or invited to
contact the Highways Agency Project Leader, A453 WideningTeam, Room CA, 5
Broadway, Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1BL.
The meeting requested that the contact information in the leaflet
(which ST will give to DB) be published on the WCG website and people
encouraged to respond by 23rd July deadline. We would also like DB to write asking what
plans there are to prevent congestion at the roundabout, please. |

Any other business FW reported that Eastcroft
have put forward an idea to double the amount of refuse it deals with. He is concerned about the possible
increase in air pollution. The only
opportunity to see the plans is to visit the website www.wrg.co.uk/eastcroft or
attend Notts. County Football Ground on 19 June between 1.00 and 8.00
p.m. It was pointed out that the
proposals would mean more lorries on the road too. FW also noted that Nottingham
City Council had arranged special collections of large domestic items in
Silverdale and Clifton but the service was not offered in Wilford. He had been told that such runs were only
done in areas worst affected by undisposed of items. SA pointed out that it is easy to arrange
collection of items by ringing or emailing the council when the need arises. FW mentioned that the recently
applied double yellow lines on Main Road had been partially covered by
repairs to the road surface and were, therefore, not enforceable. He asked that Nigel Brown be asked to
confirm whether or not this is the case.
We agreed that the WCG should request they be re-painted. (NB
this actually ocurred the very next day without any request being submitted) RS had written to Councillor
Clark Smith pointing out that on two occasions sweeping had been done on
Vernon Avenue but not in Holly Avenue.
He also wanted to know if the very early a.m. start of this work was
alternated between the top and bottom of the village? SA reported that the AGM has
been booked for 12th July 2007 in Carter Hall. The newsletter containing the information
will be ready on 21st June.
It was agreed that SA and ST will arrange refreshments for the AGM. SA reminded all committee
members to bring their nomination form, duly completed, to the meeting or
give it to a group member to bring.
The forms are available on the website or in the newsletter |
