WILFORD COMMUNITY GROUP
Minutes of the 2nd Annual General Meeting
held on Monday 20th September 2004 at 7.30
pm
at Wilford Endowed School
Roger Steel, Acting
Chairman, opened the meeting by welcoming invited guests, Councillor David
Price, Nick Smith, White Water Slalom Olympic Canoeist and visitors to the
second Annual General Meeting.
Before commencing the
formal business of the meeting Roger Steel mentioned the Pillar Box, on the
corner of Main Road and Holly Avenue will be replaced with a dome shaped
box. The original box will be going to
another village. Much pressure will be
required to replace the telephone box with a red one.
1. Presentation of the Annual
Report - Roger Steel presented the
Annual Report briefly outlining how the group began, followed by the
achievements of the committee on behalf of the community during the previous
twelve months. The Annual Report
concluded with suggestions for the coming year; the library has been identified
as being totally inadequate for present needs, more bulb planting, build upon
the success of the Open Gardens, Charity Events, a Family Day, Garden Party or
a Midsummer Ball.

The Annual Accounts – these were presented by Treasurer, Sheila Atherton.
There
were no queries from the floor and the Annual Accounts were then put forward
for adoption.

At this point the
Committee stood down and Councillor Andrew Price became the Independent Chair
to oversee the Election of the new Committee.

Member nominations were:
The
Committee had received one resignation, and one nomination. Michael Cathcart had decided to resign due
to ill health but would help where necessary on an ad-hoc basis. Resident Bill Roughton has offered to stand
for nomination.
David
Boulton, Kate Clark, Brian Clark, Josie Foster, Brian Hardy, Bill Roughton and
Jonathan Shewell-Cooper.
Those

Andrew
Price concluded his role in the proceedings by giving a brief talk and wishing
the Committee well in the coming year.
4.
The Raffle
After
the Election the raffle was drawn by Nick Smith, followed by a brief interval.
5.
The meeting
adjourned to the staff room to view a video of Nick Smith canoeing in the
Olympics, after which he described his feelings about being a member of the
British Team in Athens.
After
a lively question and answer period Nick offered to give a more in depth talk
at an open meeting at some future date, when more residents would be in
attendance.

closed at 9.30 pm
