PC Nigel Brown has also emailed the following message about bicycle security in sheds and garages:
"There have been 4 crimes in the past 2 weeks where sheds/garages have been broken into an a total of 6 bikes have been stolen. 3 of the crimes were on a Thursday night/Friday morning and the other Friday night/Saturday morning.
I will be arranging a leaflet drop in the area but in the mean time could a warning email go around asking folk to fit quality hasp and staples and padlocks (coach bolt hasp and staples rather than screw to door/frame) and fit quality locks to garage doors and double lock with padlocks if required. If bikes are secured within sheds and garages to a wall mounted chain and locked together that would reduce the risk. Shed alarms and garage alarms would obviously be a good deterrent as well.
Please note down bike frame numbers and also photograph bikes so we know what we are looking for if they should be stolen."
