"TURBINES PLANS LUDICROUS" SAYS WARD COUNCILLOR

20th January 2012

From the Nottingham Post - Wilford councillor Tim Spencer has branded plans for wind turbines on Grove Farm as "ludicrous". He encouraged residents to write to Nottingham City Council and get involved in consultations on the plans. The University of Nottingham has submitted a planning application to build three 126-metre turbines, which would generate a third of the electricity needed for the University Park campus. Mr Spencer said that while he commended the efforts to increase renewable energy sources, he felt "compelled to further highlight the ludicrous and potentially disastrous proposals." He added: "It seems grossly unfair to me that the people of Clifton Grove and residents in Clifton, Wilford and Silverdale are to have three enormous wind turbines imposed upon them just so the university can benefit financially.""
