NEW PUB/RESTAURANT FOR WILFORD
19th April 2012
After a major refurbishment, the Wilford Green Pub & Kitchen
will open on the site of the Maypole pub (Wilford Lane) in early August
2012. There are plans to have a bring-a-book/take-a-book library on site and
there may be opportunities to address the need in Wilford for somewhere to
have tea/coffee, a meeting place, a postal/parcel service, as well as a
place to eat and drink to be proud off, that is used by the community in

WORKPLACE PARKING LEVY CAUSES DISRUPTION
IN WILFORD
12th April 2012
Wilford Community Group has noticed a significant increase in
the number of vehicle parking on Ruddington Lane and Pinfold Lane. This
started on 2nd April - the day after the workplace parking levy came into
effect. At this stage the group does not know whether this is city centre
workers using Wilford as a park-and-ride site or whether it is workers at
local businesses parking there. The issue was reported

7th April 2012
A 15-year-old boy from Clifton appeared in court in
Nottingham accused of robbing a male of his mobile phone in Wilford last
month. The youth, who cannot be identified, denied the offence. He was given
conditional bail to return to court for a trial on May 4.
Sean Stewart Ashford, 32, of Brierfield Avenue, Wilford,
denied stealing wooden pallets belonging to UK Mail in Sneinton on December
20. He was unconditionally bailed until May 18. (Story from the Nottingham

FOUNDATION GRANTS

The Trustees of Carter’s Educational Foundation may pay
discretionary grants this year to persons under the age of 25 living (or
having a parent living) in the Ancient Parish of Wilford. These educational
grants may be to help to support your education at any School, University or
other place of learning or to help you enter a Trade or Profession. Grants
may assist with for example school trips, uniform, music
lessons, sporting activities etc The Ancient Parish of Wilford in
broad terms includes: Wilford Village, Silverdale, Compton Acres, part of
West Bridgford (mainly west of Loughborough Road) and some of the southern
parts of The Meadows.

ROBBERY AT IREMONGERS
POND
28th March 2012
Two teenagers were the victims of a man claiming to be a
Bailiff. He took £30 cash from them and said their membership cards would
arrive in the post. People using the pond that Iremongers Pond Bailiffs
carry identification and show it, and provide an orange detailed day ticket,
or on occasions, use the same slip as a receipt if any membership money is
taken. The incident has been reported to the Police.
