PAYING YOUR COUNCIL TAX OVER 12 MONTHS

26th March 2013

On the rear of the council tax statements that have been sent out this week, there is a telephone number to contact if you want to pay your council tax over twelve month instead of ten.

You have only until Tuesday 2nd April to do this and it is not known whether the line will be answered over the Easter weekend or on Good Friday or Easter Monday.

When you dial the number (0115 915 4851) you do not need to select any options (e.g. there is an option for queries about your 2013/14 bill - don't select this, just hold). After some spiel about taking part in a survey, it will tell you what position you are in the queue. Starting at position 28, for example, a call was answered within ten minutes, so they are quite quick at getting to you.

All you need to give them is your name, full address and account number which is at the top-right of your council tax statement. They will then send you a revised payment plan.
